Avoiding Employment Scams

Laitram and its subsidiaries have become aware of recent incidents involving bad actors using Corporate brands to defraud applicants. The Laitram companies, including Laitram, Intralox, Commercial Food Sanitation, Laitram Machinery, Lapeyre Stair, and Laitram Machine Shop, take recruitment fraud extremely seriously.

To protect applicants from falling victim to scams, we recommend considering the following to remain vigilant and informed:

Submit Applications through Official Career Websites:
When applying for positions within the Laitram companies, it is crucial to submit your applications directly through our official career websites, jobs.laitram.com or jobs.intralox.com. These websites are the designated platforms for legitimate job postings, ensuring that your application reaches the right people.

Verify Communications:
To ensure that you are communicating with representatives from the Laitram companies, pay close attention to email addresses. Legitimate email addresses from the company will typically end in "Laitram.com", "Intralox.com” or a domain from one of the other Laitram companies. Scammers often use similar-sounding email addresses to trick unsuspecting job seekers. Double-check the email domain before responding or providing any personal information.

Communication Channels Used by Recruiters:
Recruiters from the Laitram companies may contact prospective candidates through various channels, including email or recruitment websites such as LinkedIn or Indeed. However, it's important to note that these recruiters will never ask you to send money, credit card information, or bank account details to secure a job offer. If you encounter any requests of this nature, it is likely a scam.

Beware of Unusual Requests:
It is essential to be aware of the common tactics used by scammers. One red flag is when someone claiming to represent the company sends you a check and asks you to purchase equipment or send them money. Legitimate employers will never ask you to handle financial transactions on their behalf. Any request of this nature should be considered suspicious.

Reporting Concerns:
If you have any concerns about the validity of a job offer or suspect that you may have encountered an employment scam, it is important to act promptly. Contact the Laitram companies' Talent Acquisition team at TalentAcquisition@Laitram.com. They are experienced in dealing with such issues and can provide guidance and assistance.

General Tips to Avoid Employment Scams:

  • Research the Company: Before applying for a job, conduct thorough research on the company. Visit their official website, verify their contact information, and look for online reviews or news articles. Legitimate companies will have a solid online presence.
  • Trust Your Instincts: If something feels off or too good to be true, trust your instincts. Scammers often use enticing offers or pressure tactics to manipulate job seekers. Take the time to analyze the situation and proceed with caution.
  • Guard Your Personal Information: Never provide sensitive personal information, such as your social security number or bank account details, unless you have verified the legitimacy of the employer. Legitimate companies will only ask for such information during the formal hiring process.
  • Be Skeptical of Upfront Fees: Employment opportunities should not require any upfront fees. Scammers often ask for payment for training materials, background checks, or administrative costs.
